Habitat for Humanity

Our primary program is the New Home Construction Program. Homebuyers in the program must meet all Kaua‘i Habitat guidelines. Under the New Home Construction Program, interested homebuyers can add their name and contact information to our housing offering notification list to be kept updated on future housing offerings. Interested homebuyers can also submit a program application to a subdivision project which has an active housing offering open. If program qualification is determined, a formal application for an affordable mortgage loan will need to be processed with a partner lender. For more information on our projects, click here. Kaua‘i Habitat for Humanity also operates ReStore®, which sells new and used discounted building and construction materials, home improvement items, gently used furniture, appliances, and household goods to raise money for the affiliate. Proceeds from ReStore® support Kaua‘i Habitat for Humanity’s mission to build safe, decent, and affordable housing.

Grove Farm

Sustainable Communities Projects In today’s world, offering a range of housing opportunities with mixed land use and walkable neighborhoods is key to a sustainable community. This concept holds true in our Lihuʻe-Hanamaulu-Puhi Master Plan Community. Smart Growth principles include a choice of housing opportunities such as single-family dwellings like Hokulei Estates, multi-family units such as Halelani and Hookena, duplexes including Regency at Huleʻia and Halemalu, and an assisted living community with the Regency at Puakea. All of these residential units are in close proximity to the middle school, community college, restaurants, retail establishments, offices, and recreational activities.

Grassroot Institute of Hawaii

The Grassroot Institute of Hawaii is a nonprofit policy research organization that seeks to educate people about the principles of individual liberty, economic freedom and limited, accountable government. Through the publication of accurate and timely research and commentaries, as well as by organizing events, conferences and seminars, the institute informs Hawaii’s policymakers, news media and general public about key public policy issues. Since its founding in 2001, it has helped provide the intellectual foundations for many local policy debates. It also promotes action through practical change. In the spirit of “E hana kākou” (“Let’s work together”), it strives to bring Hawaii’s people together to work for a better economy, better governance and a better society. To maintain its role as an independent voice and watchdog, the Grassroot Institute refuses funding from any governments — local, state or federal. As an IRS 501(c)3 organization, the institute is nonpartisan and does not endorse political candidates or parties.
